The Challenge
Think about trying to show every part of a car inside and out, just using pictures taken from different angles. It sounds simple, but many important details are hidden, and every car looks different. The client wanted an easy-to-use system that could turn lots of car photos into realistic 3D models you could spin around and explore online. The big questions: How do you fill in the missing pieces, make every model look real, and make sure the system works for all kinds of cars?
Implemented Solution
To solve this, MetaUpSpace LLP combined several smart techniques. They built a framework that uses expert methods like photogrammetry (turning photos into 3D shapes), gs2mesh and SuGaR (making those shapes clear and detailed), and Gaussian Splatting (making everything look smooth). This helped create 3D car models that visitors can view from any angle. The system was built to handle many different car styles and work reliably even as more models get added.
Our Design Process
The design team focused on what users really want, a realistic, fun way to explore cars in 3D. They mixed these techniques to make sure you can scroll, zoom, and rotate every model without anything looking odd or missing. If a part of the car was hidden in the photos, the system was smart enough to build it in. The platform was made so that adding new cars wouldn’t slow anything down. In short, easy for users and scalable for the future.
Our Development Process
The developers started by using photogrammetry to gather all the shapes from the car photos. Next, gs2mesh and SuGaR made sure every curve and edge looked right. Gaussian Splatting added realistic shading and texture. They tested the system with lots of car images to make sure it always worked, whether users were looking at a sports car or a family van.
Results and Takeaways
This solution transformed car browsing into an interactive 3D experience, allowing users to view every model from every angle with smooth zoom and rotation, making online car viewing more immersive and intuitive than ever.
